1 cup dark brown sugar
3 eggs
3 T. cornstarch
2 cups milk (or 2 cups carnation evaporated milk and 1 cup water)
½ stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla.


Directions:
Directions:
Separate eggs. Combine yolks, beaten, in saucepan with sugar, cornstarch, milk and cook over slow heat, stirring constantly as it will stick and scorch easily. When thickened, add vanilla and butter. Fill baked crust.

Meringue - beat egg whites with 8 T. sugar and 1/8 tsp cream of tartar. Beat until stiff. Be sure to seal pie with meringue. Bake slowly until brown on top.
