Ingredients:

2/3 cup evaporated milk (1 small can)
3 tbsp. butter or margarine
1 tbsp. vanilla
Dash salt
2 cups coarsely chopped pecans

Directions:
In heavy 3-quart saucepan, combine sugar, milk & butter. Cook over high heat, stirring constantly until boiling. Place candy thermometer in mixture. Reduce heat to medium and continue cooking and stirring to a soft ball stage (235º). Spread sheets of wax paper on counter while mixture is cooking. Remove from heat; add vanilla, salt and pecans. Beat with a wooden spoon just until mixture starts to thicken (2-4 minutes). Make desired size by dropping from spoon onto wax paper. Cool. Store in an airtight container. Hint: Spread out a couple of kitchen towels and put wax paper on top of them. That will prevent the wax paper from sticking to countertop.
