Beat 3 egg whites with 1/8 teaspoon salt until foamy throughout. Gradually beat in 1/2 cup sugar, continue beating until stiff peaks form. Spread over warm pie filling, making sure it seals to edges of crust all around.

Bake at 400°F for 6-8 minutes or until nicely browned. Cool, not in a draft.
