Halve hard cooked eggs lengthwise. Remove yolks and mash with desired combination of seasonings.

Refill whites.
For 6 eggs use ¼ cup mayonnaise, 1 teaspoon vinegar, 1 teaspoon prepared mustard, ½ teaspoon salt and dash of pepper.

(I seem to remember Mom would sometimes use sandwich spread, so might want to try that also, but I wouldn't be sure how much to use.)
