2 cups flour
1 cup cooked (in water) raisins (reserve 2 tsp liquid*)
1 cup shortening/butter/margarine
2 eggs well beaten
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking powder (not soda)
1 cup sugar
*add the 2 tsp of reserved liquid from the raisins to 1/2 tsp baking soda (not powder)-this will give the cookies their texture

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugars. Add eggs, beaten. Add mixture of liquid and baking soda, and then add dry ingredients afterwards. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheet.
Bake at 350º until brown.
Cookies will come out flatter on a dark cookie sheet.
