2 cps unsifted all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsps baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/3 cup shorteing
1 cp buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 450f.
2) Int med bowl, sift flour with baking powder, salt and soda.
3) With pastry blender, cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
4) Make well in center; pour in milk all at once. Stir with fork just until blended.
5) For drop biscuits; Drop dough by tbspfuls, about 2 inches apart, onto ungreased cookie sheet.
6) Bake 12 mins or unitl golden brown.

Options:
Cheese Biscuits
Sift tsp dry mustard with dry ingredients. Stir in 3/4 cp grated, sharp cheddar cheese before adding milk. Proceed as directed above.

Bacon Biscuits
Stir 1/3 cp crumbled, crisp cooked bacon into dry ingredients before adding milk. Proceed as directed above.

Herb Biscuits
Stir 1/4 cp snipped, fresh chives or parsley into dry ingredients before adding milk. Proceed as directed
above.
