1 c. quick oats
1 square butter
1-1/4 c. boiling water
2 eggs
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1-1/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
Topping:
6 T. butter
1/4 c. milk
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. coconut
1 tsp. vanilla
nuts opt.

Directions:
Directions:
Pour boiling water over oats and butter and let stand covered for 20 minutes. Cream eggs and sugars. Add flour, salt, soda, and cinnamon, mix well. Add oatmeal mixture and mix well. Pour in greased and floured 13 X 9" pan. Bake at 350º for 30 to 35 min.

Topping:
Cream butter, milk, and brown sugar. Add coconut and nuts if desired. Spread on cake while still warm, put under broiler for 5 min, or till light brown. Watch it close.
