Red lentils (briefly soaked to drain starch)
Canned plum tomatoes
Stock (vegetable or chicken)
Marmite
Onions
Garlic
Coriander seeds
Cumin
Lemon
Coriander and yoghurt to garnish

Directions:
Directions:
Sautee the onions and garlic; add the tomatoes and stock; throw in the lentils and a teaspoonful or so of Marmite.

Simmer for half and hour. Crush some coriander seeds and add them while it's simmering. Add half the juice of the lemon, or to taste. Season, puree slightly at the end, and garnish.

I haven't specifiied measurements as it's a long time since I made this soup! But it's such an easy soup that it will work as long as there's enough liquid to absorb the lentils. The coriander seeds and cumin give it a lovely middle easterny flavour.
