Turtle Brownies Recipe

1 14oz package of caramels
1 5oz can of evaporated milk
1 (18.25 gram) package of German chocolate cake mix
3/4 cup butter, melted
1 large egg
1 6oz package semi sweet chocolate morsels (Nestle)
1 cup coarsely chopped pecans (I like to use two cups)

Directions:
Directions:
Combine caramels & 1/4 cup of evaporated milk in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring
occasionally until smooth, set aside.

Combine cake mix, butter, egg, & remaining evaporated milk. Spoon 1/2 the mixture into a
greased 13x9x2 " pan, spreading evenly. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Remove from oven.
Sprinkle with morsels and pecans. Spoon caramel mixture on top. Carefully spoon remaining
cake mixture over caramel layer.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

Cool on wire rack (Leave in the pan while cooling) (yield 3 dozen)

* Use a glaze made of 1/2 cup of chocolate frosting mixed with 3 teaspoons of water. Drip this
over the brownies after they have cooled.

This is always a hit in the office on days I have to bring in a treat to share. I personally like to add more pecans but that is up to you!
