1/2 C. shortening or oleo
2 C. sugar
2 C. flour
2 whole eggs, beaten
2/3 C. cocoa
1 C. sour milk
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and sour milk. Mix cocoa in small amount of hot water and let cool, then add to sugar mixture with salt and vanilla. Add flour with soda mixed in it. Bake in round cake pans and ice with fudge icing. Bake 350º for about 20-25 minutes or until done.

Mother always used the Fudge Recipe in this book to ice the cake. It was delicious and sooooo rich. We all loved it as it was our favorite dessert.
