2 1/2 cups sifted cake flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup soft shortening
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp almond extract
1/3 cup milk
3 egg whites
Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into mixing bowl. Add shortening, 2/3 cup milk and flavoring. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed on mixer or 300 strokes by hand. Add remaining 1/3 cup milk,and unbeaten egg whites. Beat 2 minutes longer. Pour batter into a 9 x 13 pan and bake in a 350º oven about 35 minutes or when center springs back when touched lightly in center.
