1 C. butter
2 C. sugar
4 eggs
2 C. nuts
2 C. raisins
4 C. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 C. apple sauce
2 lbs. of dates

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar together until fluffy. Add eggs and mix thoroughly. Add nuts, raisins and dates. Sift dry ingredients together 3 times and add alternately with apple sauce to cream mixture beating after each addition. Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake 350º for 2 hours.
