1 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 c. warm water
1 tsp. sugar
3 1/2 c. Centennial flour, unsifted
1 slightly beaten egg
1/3 c. cooking oil
1/4 c. (scant) sugar
2 tsp. salt
1 c. hot water (not boiling)

Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup water and sugar about 10 minutes. In large bowl, beat egg slightly. Add 1/3 cup oil, 1/4 cup sugar, and 2 teaspoons salt. Stir well. Add 1 cup hot water; let cool to lukewarm. Then add the yeast mixture. Add flour; beat well and let rise until doubled. Turn out on well floured board; do not knead in more flour. Turn dough over and roll out about 3/4 inch think. cut with 3 inch biscuit cutter. place on well oiled cookie sheet. Fold each roll in half, oiled side in. Let rise a little more than doubled bake in 350º oven for about 25 minutes.

Mom's favorite roll recipe! She adds an extra cup of flour when she makes then and they always turn out perfect!
