½ Cup shortening
½ Cup Sugar
½ tsp Cinnamon
½ tsp ginger
1/8 tsp Salt
1 tsp Vanilla
¼ Cup light Brer Rabbit molasses
1 tsp Soda
1¼ Cup sifted flour
½ Cup hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg. Add next 6 ingredients (up to molasses). Beat, and add molasses and soda. Beat and add flour. Beat and add water. Beat until blended. Pour into lightly greased and floured 8" square or round pan. Bake at 375 degrees for about 25 minutes until toothpick inserted in center is clean.
