5 quarts of Swiss chard stems
7 medium onions
1 quart of vinegar
1 tablespoon of celery seed
4 cups of sugar
1 tablespoon of mustard seed

Sauce:

1/2 c. cornstarch
1 tsp. turmeric
1 tsp. curry powder
2 tsp. dry mustard
1/2 c. cold water

Directions:
Directions:
Take stems of chard and cut in small pieces. Sprinkle with pickling salt and let stand 2 hours. Cut up onions and add to chard, let stand 1/2 hour longer. Cook until tender. To make the sauce mix cornstarch, turmeric, curry powder, dry mustard with water, and add to chard, etc. Boil 15 minutes and seal in sterilized jars.
