1 tbspn. salt
1 lb vegetable shortening (Crisco)
Cup cold water to the brim (just under)

Directions:
Directions:
Put flour and salt in a large bowl.
Add Crisco cut up into chunks.
Add water bit by bit and just bring pastry together with your fingers until it's a messy barely mixed ball.
It'll be sticky.
Put it in the fridge for at least half and hour.
Knead it lightly just to bring everything together so it will roll out - don't overknead, that will make it tough.
Put on a floured surface and roll out.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This is a typical Grandma recipe - "you'll know when it feels right". Pastry is just practice - just keep your touch light and your tastebuds eager and all should be well.
