Directions:
Directions:
1. Pour 3 cups hand hot/very warm water into a large bowl.
Add 2 packets of quick-rise yeast and 2 cups of whole wheat flour.
Beat the mixture for 2 minutes (I use a hand held whisk).
Cover and place in a warm spot and let double in size.
2. Add 1/2 cup vegetable oil, 1 tbspn. salt and approx. 3 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour to yeast mixture. Mix with your hands until it forms a sticky ball. Leave in the bowl and let double in size.
3. Sprinkle counter with flour. Turn dough out and knead it lightly. Cut it in half, place each half in a bread tin, cover with a tea towel and let rise until they almost reach tops of loaf tins.
4. Bake at 350º for 40 minutes.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Grandma taught me how to make this bread. When you haven't made it for a while, it's hard to get it right. Mine always turns out like bricks. However, if you give it a couple of tries, you begin to get the feel for when the dough is just sticky enough and then you end up with a dense, cake-like whole wheat bread. It's very tasty.
