Ingredients: 6 pz.bittersweet chocolate or semisweet - chopped 2 large egg whites, room temp. 1/8 tsp cream tartar 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract 1/4 c granulated sugar 3/4 c finely chopped walnuts (leave out walnuts when fixing for Chris and others allergic to nuts) and add chocolate chips instead or add the chocolate chips and the walnuts if not for someone allergic to nuts but loves chocolate.

Directions:Pos. oven racks in the upper and lower 3rd of oven and heat to 350 deg. lightly grease two baking sheets. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or microwave and set aside. Beat the egg whites with cream of tartar until it forms stiff peaks. With the beaters running lightly unless you want a big mess, gradually add the vanilla and sugar until the peaks look stiff but not dry. pour the melted chocolate and nuts (if using nuts) and choc. chips if using choc chips and gently fold the mixture together with a large rubber spatula until the color is uniform. Immediately drop level tsp of the batter onto the baking sheets 1 in apart. Bake until shiny and cracked 10- 12 mins. Great for a low calorie chocolate fix. Taste like a gooey brownie delight. Best eaten right away - no kidding. |
