I remember so many times when we would come home from school on a Friday afternoon to have Dad be at home saying pack a bag we are going somewhere. Usually, it was somewhere not top far away but always somewhere that we could learn something or get some good old-fashioned exercise, like hiking or swimming or both. These were some of my favorite times because it was always a surprise to us. I don't think that Dad did much planning either. We would stop by the grocery store and get lunch meat, cheese, bread, some chips and usually some cookies. Then, Dad would drive until he was tired and we would find a place to stay for the night. I don't ever remember staying anywhere fancy but I always felt safe and I still remember having such a wonderful time.
