2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour with salt, baking soda and baking powder. Cut in shortening until mixture is the texture of corn meal. Add buttermilk to make a soft dough. Turn onto floured board and knead lightly, about 10 turns. Roll out to about 1/2 to 3/4 in. thickness and cut with floured biscuit cutter. Bake on greased baking sheet in very hot oven, 450º, for 10 to 12 min.
