"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway
This recipe for Chocolate Peanut Clusters, by Nona Kiley, is from Our Family Cookbook ,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
1 pkg. Jello chocolate pudding (not instant) 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup Pet Milk 1 Tblsp. Butter 1 cup salted peanuts
Mix in a 1-1/2 quart saucepan the chocolate pudding mix, sugar, Pet Milk, and butter. Cook and stir to a full all-over boil. Lower heat and keep stirring while mixture boils slowly 3 minutes. Take off heat. Stir in all at once, the salted peanuts. Beat until candy starts to thicken. Drop from teaspoons onto waxed paper to form 24 clusters.
You have to work fast when the candy starts to thicken or it will get too thick to form into clusters. The clusters will spread out. So good. You could substitute salted pecans or other salted nuts.
