1/2 C. shortening, 1 C. sugar (brown firmly packed);
1 egg, 1 1/2 C. sifted flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 tsps. cinnamon,m 1/2 C. milk, 1/2 tsp. soda dissolved in 1 tsp. water; 1 1/2 C. old-fashion oatmeal, 1/2 C. chopped nuts (walnuts); 1 C. seedless raisins or "golden raisins instead.

375º oven Baking sheet; greased generously, cream shortening & sugar; until creamy and add egg beaten first. Sift together all dry ingredients, except for oatmeal, add milk with the oatmeal, nuts, and raisins. Mix well. Drop by T. spoonfuls onto a baking sheet and bake 12 min. or until golden brown. Remove from pan while hot.

Tips: I ran out of raisins, so I used dried cranberries; the cookie was moist & I liked better than the raisins. Okay to omit the walnuts, if you have low tolerance to nuts.
