1 pound bacon, partially drained
1 head green cabbage, finely shredded
5 potatoes, finely grated
2 eggs
teaspoon salt
flour

Directions:
Directions:
Fry bacon and crumble it. Save 1/2 of the bacon grease. mix in the cabbage into bacon pan with grease and bacon in it and set aside.
Mix grated potatoes, eggs, salt and add flour to make the batter..
Test batter with spoon. The batter is ready when the spoon only tips slightly and slowly.That is when you know you have enough flour.
Get a pot of water boiling and put a portion of batter on plate. Spoon small portion of batter into boiling water dipping spoon into water after each dumpling.
When dumplings are done, stir into cabbage and bacon mixture.

More modern versions include used bow tie noodles and adding 3 garlic cloves and 1/2 c sour cream
