1 c. vegetable shortening
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1 lb. light brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
5 large eggs
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and butter or margarine together; Add sugar gradually and continue to cream until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and beat in eggs one at a time. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
Pour into a large greased and floured tube pan.
Bake at 325º for one hour or until cake tests done.
