1 lb ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
¾ cup chopped green pepper
1 (14 ½ oz) can diced tomatoes
1 (14 ½ oz) can dark red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
1 tsp salt
1 to 2 tsp chili powder
1 bay leaf

In heavy skillet or soup pot, cook meat, onions and green pepper until meat is browned and vegetables are tender. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer for 1 hour. Remove bay leaf and serve.
