1/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar - divided
1 c. flour, sifted
2 tsp. baking powder
1/3 c. milk
1/8 tsp. salt
1 can red sour pitted cherries and juice

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together 1/2 cup sugar and butter, add dry ingredients. Gradually add milk and mix well.

Spread batter into greased 9" square pan.

Carefully pour in cherries and juice and sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup sugar.

Bake at 375º for 45 minutes or until lightly brown.
