1 2/3 C sugar
3 eggs
2 1/4 C flour all-purpose)
2/3 C. cocoa (unsweetened)
1/4 teas. baking powder
1 1/4 teas. baking soda
1 teas. salt
1 1/3 C. water
1 teas vanilla extract

350 F. Oven 13" x 9 " Pyrex pan. Bake 40-45 min.
Cream shortening & 1 2/3 C. sugar until smooth; then beat eggs until fluffy.
Sift together, 2 1/4 C. flour, 2/3 C. cocoa, 1/4 tsp. baking powder, baking soda, & add 1 tsp. salt.
Mix alternately 1 1/3 C water & 1 tsp. vanilla extract.
