1 cup shortening
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp soda
1 tsp hot water
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup nut meats
1 cup chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and add sugar and cream. Add eggs, soda in water, add flour, salt, vanilla and nuts. You may use cherry, butterscotch or chocolate chips as desired.

Bake at about 350º for about 10 minutes

Mother always let the grandchildren and great-grandchildren help make these cookies and then would send them home with them. They always ate the dough as the ingredients were added!!! She never let Penny do that!
