I loved visiting Grandma and Grandpa Rouland's house. It was always a place of mystery to me. Though it was small, there were new things around every corner. It was a different environment unlike anything I'd ever experienced before. I remember going into the basement with the other kids in search of a new place to play. We had to clean it out first, and I was handed the broom and told to get all the spiders. I never minded it too much, because I knew that the excitement that the adventure would bring would pay off in the end....and it did. I remember Grandpa Rouland as a gruffy voice, a cloud of smoke, a red leather chair, and a dog at his feet. He was always a friendly face to me and a person of great mystery.
