2 c. chopped dates
2 c. boiling water
6 tsp soda

1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 beaten eggs

5 c. sifted flour
1 Tbsp salt
2 c. 40% bran flakes
1/2 c. all bran
1 qt. buttermilk
1 c. nuts (opt)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix and cool dates, water, and soda
Cream shortening, sugar, eggs, flour, salt
Add bran flakes, bran, buttermilk, nuts to creamed mixture. Then add date mixture to it.
Fill muffin tins 2/3 full

Bake at 400 for 20 minutes
