1/2 Cup shortening 1 1/2 Cups sugar 2 eggs, beaten 1 cup mashed bananas 1 tsp baking soda 2 cups flour 1 tsp salt 1 cup sour milk 1/2 cup chopped dates 1/2 cup nuts
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add beaten eggs. Mix bananas, baking soda,and sour milk together. Add alternating this mixture with flour and salt combination. Add dates and nuts. Bake 30-35 minutes in 350 º oven. Topping: 3/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup cream or evaporated milk 1/2 cup melted butter 1 cup coconut Combine ingredients. Spread topping on cake while warm. Put under broiler for 2 minutes.
