3 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
5 cups self-rising flour (unsifted)
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. soda
1 cup shortening
2 cups lukewarm buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside. Mix flour, sugar, and soda. Cut in shortening. Add buttermilk and yeast. Mix. May be rolled out, cut with biscuit cutter and placed in oven immediately or may be stored in covered bowl in refrigerator and used as needed. Bread does not have to be allowed to rise before baking. Keeps at least a week in refrigerator and makes a large amount of dough. Bake at 350º for 15 to 20 minutes.
