2 1/2 sticks butter, softened, 3/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed, 1/2 c. sugar, 1 egg, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 1/2 c. flour, 1 tsp. baking soda, 1 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. nutmeg, 3 c. quick cooking oatmeal;

Directions:
Combine butter and sugars until creamy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add baking soda, salt and spices to flour and add floured mixture gradually; mixing well after each addition. Stir in oats. Drop by rounded teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for 8 minutes for a chewy cookie; 10 minutes for a crisp cookie. Cool for 1 minute on cookie sheet before removing.
