3/4 c. shortening (I use butter flavored crisco stick)
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. ground cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add molasses and egg, beating well. Mix flour, soda, spices and salt and add to first mixture. Mix well. Chill in refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Form mixture into 1 inch balls and roll in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 for 8 to 10 minutes.
