1 c. grapenuts
2 c. buttermilk
4 T shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 t salt
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. soda

Soak grapenuts in buttermilk
Cream together shortening, sugar, egg and salt
Then add grapenuts
Mix flour with baking powder and soda add to wet mixture
bake in 2 loaf pans in slow oven 45-60 minutes
