"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Crock Pot Dressing, by Lois Kahler, is from Our Family Cookbook,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
1 cup butter or margarine 1 cup chopped onions 1 cup chopped celery 1-1/2 tsp. sage 1/2 tsp. pepper 12 or 13 cups dry bread cubes 3-1/2 to 4-1/2 cups chicken broth 2 eggs, well beaten
Combine all ingredients; mix well. Pack lightly into crock pot. Cover and cook on high heat setting 45 minutes; turn to low heat setting and cook 4 to 8 hours. NOTE: When mixing ingredients, start with 10 cups bread cubes and add more if needed. Keep the dressing moist.
I make this ahead for Thanksgiving and freeze. Thaw before heating.
