1 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
1/2 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
Date filling:
2 c. dates
3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. water

Cream butter with brown sugar. Add eggs, water and vanilla, mixing thoroughly. Stir in flour, salt, soda and cinnamon. Prepare date filling. Put dates, sugar and water in saucepan. Cook, slowly stirring constantly until thickened. Drop dough by teaspoon on baking sheet. Add 1/2 tsp. filling. Cover with 1/2 tsp. dough.
