8 oz self rising flour
1/4 oz baking powder
Pinch of salt
2 oz butter or margarine
2 oz sugar
1/3 cup of milk

Directions:
Directions:
Sieve flour, baking powder & salt. Rub in fat to make a sandy texture. Add sugar and milk, mix into a dough.

Roll out dough until 1/2 inch thick, with a cutter, cut out 2 inch rounds and place on a greased baking sheet.

Brush with egg and bake in oven for 15-20 mins on 400F.

Traditionally these are served for afternoon tea with clotted cream and strawberry jam. You can also add 2 oz dried fruit to the scone mixture before baking.
