1/2 c. Crisco
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 T. milk
1 tsp. peppermint extract
1 1/4 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 sq. unsweetened chocolate/melt

Directions:
Directions:
Blend Crisco, sugar, egg, milk and peppermint extract. Add combined dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Divide dough into two parts. To on half add the chocolate and mix thoroughly. Roll each portion of dough 1/2 inch thick on waxed paper. Dough will be soft. Place white dough on chocolate dough. Remove paper and roll as for jelly roll. Wrap in waxed paper. Chill thoroughly for 2-3 hours. Slice 1/4 inch thick and place on baking sheet that has been lightly greased. Bake in moderate oven (375º) about 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
