"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Sweet and Sour Meatballs, by Simpson Eagle, is from Eagles in the Kitchen,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
Sauce: 4 cans tomato soup 1 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup lemon juice 2 pkg. french onion soup 2 cans chunk pineapple, drained
Prepare meatballs and broil in oven until cooked through. Combine all sauce ingredients except pineapple in crock pot and bring to a simmer on high. Add meatballs and turn to low. Simmer at least 3 hours. Add pineapple 1/2 hour before serving.
These meatballs are great as an appetizer or over noodles as a main course. They can be made with 1/2 of the onion soup called for to cut down on the salt and they are still really good.
