2oz red food color 2 tso cocoa 1/2 C. shortening 1 1/2 C. sugar 2 eggs 1 C. Buttermilk 2 1/4 C. Flour 1/4 tsp salt 1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp soda 1 T. vinegar
Crean shortening & sugar add eggs, food color and cocoa. Beat well. Alternately add buttermilk with flour and salt mixture add vanilla. Mix till flour is blended well. Mix in soda and vinegar. Bake for 30 min at 350º in 2 9" round cake pans.
