2 ¾ c. flour
2 ½ t baking soda
½ t salt
1 lb brown sugar

2/3 c. shortening
3 eggs
1 t vanilla
12 oz. chocolate chips/butterscotch chips
1 c. nuts (optional)

Directions:

Melt shortening and add sugar
Allow to cool
Add one egg at a time
Add dry ingredients

Bake at 350 for 35 minutes

My mother used to make this recipe for us and it was always useful for a big crowd, like our family. I think the original recipe came from The Pawleys Island Cookbook.
