1-quart oysters with liquid
3 cups crackers crushed
¾ cup cream
1 tsp salt
Pepper
1 cup melted butter
Dash of nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Place sieve lined with double thickness of cheesecloth over bowl; drain oysters. Reserve liquor. Remove any pieces of shell from oysters. Check oysters for grit. Rinse briefly if necessary; drain well.
Sprinkle one third of the crumbs over bottom of lightly greased shallow 8 cup baking dish. Arrange half the oysters in single layer over crumbs. Combine reserved oyster liquor with cream; sprinkle half the mixture over oysters. Season with half the salt and pepper. Repeat layering, finishing with crumbs. Spoon melted butter over top. Bake until cream is bubbly and crumbs on top are golden brown. About 30 min.
