Preheat oven to 375°.
Grease cookie sheets.
Requires refrigerating dough.

BLEND TOGETHER:
1 c. butter or margarine (softened, not melted)
1 and 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 egg
1 and 1/2 tsp. vanilla

MIX TOGETHER AND ADD IN:
2 and 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

COVER IN A SMALL BOWL AND REFRIGERATE.

DIVIDE DOUGH IN HALF. ROLL OUT ON A VERY FLOURED SURFACE TO ABOUT 1/4in. CUT INTO SHAPES.

BAKE 7 TO 8 MIN. OR UNTIL LIGHT BROWN ON EDGES, ON GREASED COOKIE SHEETS.

Buttercream Frosting
BLEND TOGETHER:
3 tsp. butter or margarine
2 and 1/4 c. powdered sugar
2 tbsp. milk
3/4 tsp. vanilla
