Butter
Sugar
Cocoa or Chocolate Squares
Egg
Soda
Buttermilk
Flour
Salt
Oleo
Powdered Sugar
Vanilla
Directions:

Cream:
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg

Mix in:
1/2 c. cocoa or 2 chocolate squares, melted
1/2 tsp. soda (in milk)
3/4 c. buttermilk
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix well. Add some chopped nuts if desired.
Mom adds she makes them plain.

Bake 400º 10-12 minutes

Icing:
1/2 tbsp. oleo or more
1 square chocolate melted or cocoa
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
