Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3 c. flour
1 c. margarine or butter
2 Tbsp. vanilla flavoring
2 c. sugar
5 eggs
1 c. buttermilk

Icing:
3 c. sugar
4 Tbsp. Hershey's Cocoa
1/2 c. Karo syrup
2 Tbsp. vanilla flavoring
1/3 stick margarine
1 can evaporated milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour, sugar, and margarine or butter. Add eggs beating slowly with electric mixer. Add rest of ingredients beating slowly and mix well. Pour in 3 nine inch greased cake pans and bake at 325º - 350º for 20 - 25 mintues or until layers test done.

Icing: Mix ingredients, bring to a boil at high temperature. Constantly stir to keep from sticking to boiler. Lower heat and cook until icing begins to thicken and forms a soft ball in a cup of cold water. Punch holes in cake layers and pour icing on layers, spread on sides and tops. Both icing and layers need to be hot so layers can absorb icing.
