1 part sugar (ex: 1 cup sugar)
4 parts water (ex: 4 cups water)

Make your syrup weekly & discard at the end of the week. Clean your feeder weekly before refilling.
Do not boil the water. Just use tap water, set about luke warm and stir sugar in vigourously until disolved.
DO NOT ADD food coloring!!! Just plain ol' sugar & water and trust me the hummers will come!

Feed hummers starting in the spring & pull feeders up in October. Do not add red food coloring, this does not attract more hummers and it is not known what this added ingredient, chemicals, do to the hummers. Keep it simple!!
