1/2 cup of cornmeal
1/2 cup of self-rising flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 egg
2 large tpsb shortening or bacon grease
1/4 cup sugar
Milk

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425º
2. Melt shortening in an 8x8 pan
3. Mix other ingredients in a bowl and then add melted shortening from hot pan. Then add enough milk to make a medium batter
4. Pour batter into hot pan. Bake at 425º for 35-40 minutes
5. Check to make sure it does not get too brown
