"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

Cooked Deli Ham Capicola Genoa salami Mild provolone cheese Mayo/mustard/Italian dressing-sub oil salt pepper Onions tomatoes lettuce mild banana peppers French bread
Cut French bread in half and slice in half. First put mayo on the bottom and tops of bread. Place four slices provolone on bottom. Next the capicola, next, the salami, next the cooked/boiled ham. Then add thinly sliced onions across the ham, 5 slices tomatoes, salt, a handful of shredded lettuce, add peppers (optional), then a few shakes of sub oil (optional).
Mom always put salt and pepper on the tomatoes. Dad put salt only and salt and pepper to taste on the lettuce. Can also mix a small amount of mustard with the mayo. Exclusively served at Ace Superette in Charlotte...oil recipe to follow. Customers always loved mom's subs and said that they had a mother's touch!
