2 cups blueberries
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
tsp salt
cup butter
cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
cup milk
Grated rind of 1 lemon
Dry bread crumbs
cup chopped walnuts

TOPPING:
1/3 cup flour
1 tsp cinnamon
cup sugar
cup butter

Directions:
Directions:
Wash berries; dry thoroughly. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Sprinkle berries with 1 T of dry mixture. Toss gently. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla and egg: beat until fluffy and light. Stir in remaining dry ingredients alternately with milk. Stir in rind. Spoon stiff batter over berries; fold gently until just mixed. Turn into buttered 9-inch square pan that has been dusted with bread crumbs. Spread evenly. Sprinkle with nuts.

To make topping, combine flour, cinnamon, and sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over cake. Bake at 375 for 50 minutes. Cool at least 30 minutes.

Delicious as dessert or coffee cake. For dessert top with whipped cream and blueberries.
